A Lesser Photographer - 10 Principles for Rediscovering What Matters

I recently read an excellent book by C.J. Chilvers and have included a short passage below, number 10 in his 10 principles for rediscovering what matters.

I thoroughly recommend that you visit his blog

Be Grateful

The one antidote for the jealousy that leads to the obsessive buying of gear and chasing of fame is gratitude.

The fact we have the gear we already have, vision clear enough to appreciate beauty and the knowledge to capture it, makes photographers the luckiest people in the world.

While others let beauty pass them by, we recognize it, experience it and share it with the world.

Is there better way to fully live a life?

Wedding Albums

I have just put together a wedding album using Apple Aperture and sent it to print. I have used Aperture for book printing in the past and the quality of the finished items is excellent.

Sadly Aperture insists on scrambling the layout of the Album in the event that an alternative theme is needed. i.e. A large Hard Cover Album for the Bride and Groom re-sized as a smaller album for the parents of the bride requires a re-working of pretty much all the pages (100 pages in this case!)

I am disappointed that the software does not seem to have a better option for printing alternative sized versions of a 'finished' album.

Weddings

I am currently putting together a Wedding Album. I use Apple Aperture to create the digital album and Apple's excellent printing service to produce the album.

I have recently switched from Aperture to Lightroom for my photo management but Aperture has better facilities for book printing
